Jim Harris, leader of the Green Party of Canada from 2003-2006, is available as an expert commentator on the Ontario Provincial Election.
Mr. Harris served as the Co-Chair of the 2007 provincial election campaigns for the Green Party of Ontario, where the party won 354,897 votes - 8% of the vote - almost tripling its 2003 result.
He also served as the inaugural President of the Green Party of Ontario from 2001-2003 and had the vision of running a candidate in every riding. In the 2003 election, the party fielded 102 candidates in Ontario's then 103 ridings winning 126,651 votes - more than quadrupling the result of the 1999 election. In the eight years of his involvement with the GPO, the Party's electoral success improved 12-fold.
As the Green Party of Canada National Campaign Chair for the 2008 election Jim Harris was responsible for the successful campaign to get Elizabeth May into the televised leaders' debates, which contributed to the federal party winning almost a million votes.
Mr. Harris retired from politics in 2008, and can serve as an expert commentator on current events as they unfold. He is versed in a wide range of topics including: economy, job creation, health care, fiscal responsibility (deficits & debt), energy policy and education.
Jim will be available for comment throughout the election, and can be booked for fixed television events, including the Leaders' Debate and Election Night.
